WALK OF LEGENDS SPECIAL OPENING HEINZ KINIGADNER June 8
Offroad legend, world championship winner and always READY TO RACE throughout his life: Heinz ‘Kini’ Kinigadner unveiled the ‘Walk of Legends’ on the forecourt of the KTM Motohall on Saturday 8 June. ‘I am honoured to have my name at the start of this circular route,’ said a touched ‘Kini’.
Heinz Kinigadner is an institution in Austrian motorsport. As a rally legend and motocross champion, it is also he who unveiled the latest attraction in the KTM Motohall on Saturday 8 June: The ‘Walk of Legends’. "Kini's plaque of honour marks the start of our new legends trail, which takes visitors around the KTM Museum. We are delighted that Heinz Kinigadner has travelled here today with his family to open the ‘Walk of Legends’,’ says KTM Motohall Managing Director Eva Priewasser.
Kinigadner and the KTM brand have always been closely linked. "The KTM Motohall has now become a place of pilgrimage for motorbike enthusiasts and those interested in technology - which is why we made the conscious decision to install the “Walk of Legends” outdoors.
Fan moments are therefore possible regardless of our opening hours,’ explains Hubert Trunkenpolz, Deputy CEO of PIERER Mobility AG.
After the ceremonial unveiling of the first bronze handprint, ‘Kini’ did not miss the opportunity to take part in an exclusive tour of the KTM Motohall - together with visitors to the museum and guests of honour at the opening. Kini’ also took plenty of time for the “Meet & Greet” in the event foyer. There, visitors were able to marvel at the world champion bike, the 250 MX from 1984, the winner's crown and the world championship trophy of the cross legend. Heinz Kinigadner's retro autograph cards from 1984, which the 1984 World Champion willingly signed many times, also provided nostalgic moments.
The ‘Walk of Legends’ is gradually being expanded to include additional heroes: ‘The ever-increasing number of KTM successes and heroes is reflected on the outside of the building. A completely new, open access to the history of the KTM heroes, which is now open to visitors at any time,’ says Priewasser.
