RENE HOFER WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL FIGURE IN AUSTRIAN MOTORSPORT AND ON HIS WAY TO THE MOTOCROSS KING‘S CLASS. THE UPPER AUSTRIAN DIED IN AN AVALANCHE ACCIDENT AT THE AGE OF JUST 19.
Rene Hofer proved his exceptional talent at a young age – as World Champion and European Champion in the 85 cc class. After Heinz Kinigadner and Matthias Walkner, he was the third Austrian to celebrate a world championship title in motocross. The reward for this success was asent into the KTM Junior Racing Team. After a successful seasons in the EMX 125 series, the promotion to the MX2 class followed in 2020.
In 2021, Rene Hofer celebrated victories at a World Championship race, at the Motocross of Nations (MXoN) in the MX2 class as well as his first GP triumph – and he was considered one of the great MXGP winning riders of the future.
His successful career ended tragically on December4, 2021. Ride on peacefully Rene! We will miss you!
